On May 13, 1971, Clearwater Community Woman's Club was
formed with a charter membership of 61 women, becoming
federated on September 21, 1971. These 61 dynamic
women dedicated themselves to serving the community and
educating themselves and others about the important issues
of the day.
Through the years CCWC has participated in many volunteer
projects, educational programs and fundraisers, which
provide needed support and funds for various community
projects. Notable among these endeavors are:
- Delivering Meals on Wheels
- Sorting and distributing food at the RCS Food
Bank
- Volunteering at area libraries and schools
- Raising thousands of dollars for the Clearwater
Library System and the Clearwater Library Foundation with
the club's annual November fundraiser, "An Evening with
the Authors"
Since 1972, CCWC has presented the "Daisy Award" to
recognize and honor a worthy non-profit organization that
serves the Clearwater Community. Presentation of this
prestigious award brings to its recipient public recognition
and financial aid. A sampling of the organizations
that have been honored in recent years are:
- Religious Community Services
- Hospice of the Florida Suncoast
- Clearwater Marine Aquarium
|
- Pinellas Habitat for Humanity
- Lighthouse of Pinellas (formally the Watson
Center)
- Women on the Way Challenge Center

The members of the CCWC are proud to have Judy
Lutz, the 2002-2004 GFWC International President,
as a friend and member since 1975. As part of
her GFWC presidency, Judy traveled throughout
America and the world, spreading the message of
GFWC. Her motto was "The future belongs to
those who shape it with friendship, humility and
volunteer service."
