The GFWC Clearwater Community Women's Club (CCWC) is a member club of the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs (FFWC) and the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) one of the world's largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational woman's volunteer service organizations.   FFWC was organized in 1885 in Green Cove Springs, Florida.  FFWC has been active in the preservation of the Everglades and building the first home at Hacienda Girls Ranch in Melbourne, Florida.  State headquarters for FFWC are now in Lakeland, Florida. GFWC was founded in 1890.  The national headquarters are in Washington, D.C.  The National Women's History and Resource Center are part of the facility.  Past members include Jane Cunningham Croly (founder,) Julia Ward Howe (wrote the "Battle Hymn of the Republic,") Eleanor Roosevelt, Jane Addams (help improve child labor laws,) and Margaret Chase Smith (US Senator from Maine.) The CCWC membership is divided into six special interest groups called departments.  The six departments are: the arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs and public affairs.  Each department takes turns in planning a program for the monthly meetings, highlighting the department's topic of interest.
